Price Elasticity (Explained Simply): How to Test Without Hurting Revenue

Price elasticity sounds academic, but it’s just a way to answer: ‘If we change price, what happens to demand and profit?’
A safe testing framework
1) Choose a test scope (segment/SKU/region).
2) Set guardrails (max churn, max volume loss, min margin).
3) Run an A/B or phased rollout.
4) Measure net revenue and margin — not just volume.
5) Decide: scale, refine, or roll back.
Common mistakes
Don’t test during promotions, don’t change multiple variables at once, and don’t declare victory based on revenue alone.
